This January not only marks the beginning of the International Year of Astronomy 2009, but also the official launch of our new website. There are many new features and more will be appearing over the next few months. There is also lots of exciting work happening, while we push ahead with building the network - check back regularly for updates!
We've made the website to be interactive, so we can easily tell you about what we are doing and you can tell us (and the rest of the world) what you are doing with the LCOGT network. If you try one of our education activities, do a science project with data from the network, make a color image from your observations, you can blog about it on our new website. Register, for more information.
Here are a couple of the new features.
Image Gallery
Have a browse through some of the excellent images which have been taken using the network, and processed by many different users. You can see images of the telescopes in the network, high quality astronomical images, or look at the recent images from the network.
Tagging
You can now browse our website by category or 'tag'. The tags that an author has labeled a piece of content, such as a webpage or an image, are shown as green text opposite the title (for pages) or in the right-hand column (for images). These no only give you, the reader, a quick idea of what the page is about but also is a link to more pages on that subject.
For example, clicking on the tag, solar system, will take you to a page which is dynamically created showing teasers for all the content tagged with 'solar system'.
As well as these specific examples there is more content (which is being added to all the time) about our global telescope network, our science goals and activity, and our education programmes.
Remember, you can be a part of it! Register today.
