Title: Supernova classification using Superfit
The selected applicant will take Superfit (existing code that classifies supernovae based on their spectra, written in Python), and pair it with a graphical user interface that was written in Plotly Dash. They will work with Prof. Andy Howell, who wrote the original Superfit code in IDL, and wrote the GUI in Plotly Dash, and make improvements to both the front and back end.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Python.
- Knowledge of astronomy and Plotly Dash is a plus.
