Accounting Coordinator

Las Cumbres Observatory (LCO) is seeking an organized and helpful individual to support accounting needs at LCO. Ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, great with technology and have prior accounting experience. This position reports to the Director of Finance and is primarily office-based at our headquarters in Goleta, CA.

**We are open to a part-time (25-30 hour) or full-time (40 hour) employee. Please indicate preference in questionnaire.**

Duties:

  • Accounts Payable
  • Purchasing
  • Monthly reconciliation of bank statements
  • Bank transfers
  • Credit card reconciliation
  • Year end closing duties
  • Quarterly and annual reporting
  • Assisting in government grant administration and compliance
  • Other administration and accounting support as needed

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Two years accounting experience
  • Organized & highly detailed
  • Ethical & responsible
  • Helpful
  • Analytical and able to work independently
  • Interested in using technology to improve efficiency
  • Software products used: Quickbooks desktop, Google Workspace, Microsoft Word & Excel, Adobe
  • Must ensure confidentiality in all financial and administrative activities

The salary range for this position is estimated to be $30 - $45/hour. Actual salary will be determined by candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. LCO offers great benefits including excellent health insurance, generous paid time off and retirement plan contributions.
