Astronomers who are part of the extended LCO science team are welcome to submit proposals for LCO's share of network hours. The extended science team members include the following:
- Peer Review Panel members. Proposal reviewers may submit proposals for 2 years after their last semester of service.
- Science Advisory Committee members. Former SAC members may submit proposals for 2 years after their last year of service.
- Graduate Students. On the recommendation of their LCO advisor and approval of the LCO Observatory Director, former graduate students are eligible to apply for LCO observing time as principal investigators after they graduate. Eligible graduate students will have nominally spent at least two years at LCO with an LCO scientist as an advisor, and have done work that contributes to the mission of LCO. They are eligible to submit observing proposals for up to 3 years after they graduate, as long as they continue working in an active research position.
- Post-docs. On the recommendation of their LCO advisor and approval of the LCO Observatory Director, former post-doctoral fellows are eligible to apply for LCO observing time as principal investigators after they leave LCO. They are eligible to submit observing proposals for up to 5 years after they leave LCO if they continue working in an active research position.
