This new image of the spiral galaxy NGC 1532, also known as Haley's Coronet, was taken using our 1-meter telescopes at our Chile node.
In this spectacular image many other elliptical galaxies can be seen, including a dwarf elliptical (NGC 1531) which is interacting with NGC1532. The tidal disruption from this interaction is mostly likely the cause of the plumes around the disc of NGC 1532.
