BBC Stargazing Australia features LCO

Mar 31, 2017

People living in the UK and some Northern European countries  have been treated to 3 live TV shows about astronomy this week, presented by BBC Stargazing Australia. All of the shows were broadcast live from Siding Spring Observatory in New South Wales, Australia, where LCO has an observatory site. The TV show was hosted by particle physicist Prof Brian Cox and comedian Dara O'Briain.

The 3rd and final show featured the LCO observatory, including a tour around our 2-meter (Faulkes South) and 1-meter telescopes hosted by presenter Liz Bonnin and LCO observatory manager Mark Willis.

As part of the program and as a demonstration of LCO's unique capabilities, we tracked the asteroid (3122) Florence from our South Africa and Chile sites for the 24 hours leading up to the live show.
