Telescope Graphs and Statistics: New Webpage Addition

Aug 26, 2009

New addition to the website:

There is now a link to nightly summary graphs and overall statistics for each site on the main Network page on the left hand side (or you can click here).  For now it is focused on FTN and FTS, but will include more telescopes as they come online.

The graphs give a nightly summary of what the telescope is doing each night (based on open-shutter time) and the conditions during this time.  The top graph shows which mode the telescope was in and which group was using the it (the key is initially hidden and can be seen by clicking the 'Show gantt chart key').  The bottom graph shows different things such as how far away the moon was from where the telescope was pointing and how bright it was, aspects due to weather such as humidity and seeing, and a few other things that you can click on and off.  Up to four y-axis will be shown (although the graph can show more than that) on the left side of the graph.  A note that the time scale across the x-axis is not to scale, it does not reflect the gaps in between observations.

There are links at the top of the graph page to the statistics that gives up to a year of nightly statistics based on how much time the telescope was open and closed (due to weather, technical problems). with a graph at the top to see the trends.  There is a key at the bottom of the page describing what each time category means.

Soon this will all be embedded into the network pages and it will be easy to flip between sites and dates without leaving your friendly, neighborhood LCOGT website!
