Recent observations show that the Type Ia supernovae that result from exploding white dwarfs are even better distance indicators when they are observed in the near infrared. We are exploiting this gift from nature in the RAISIN program, using the Hubble Space Telescope to observe the restframe near infrared emission from SN Ia at cosmologically interesting redshifts. I will report on progress to date in this program, which has the potential to provide stringent constraints on the nature of dark energy.
