For five years, the Glendale Community College Astronomy Club (named ASTRO) has been using the campus’s 8-inch telescopes for public engagement and educational research and the members are getting to the point where their ambitions are exceeding the capabilities of the equipment. At the same time, the GCC Honors Program has many students eager to engage in an honors-level science experience. The goal for this project is to merge the honors students and club members into one research cohort and engage them in the authentic practice of experimental design and execution.
