Caldwell 69 (NGC 6302) is commonly known as the ‘Butterfly Nebula’ and was discovered in 1826 by William Herschel. Being a planetary nebula, it was formed by a Sun-like star that exhausted its fuel and started violently ejecting its atmospheres.
