The Flaming Star Nebula (IC405, Caldwell 31) is an emission/reflection nebula in the constellation Auriga. It is located approximately 1,500 light-years away and spans about 5 light-years across. The nebula surrounds the bright bluish irregular variable star AE Aurigae.
