Centaurus A (NGC 5128, C77) is a galaxy in the constellation Centaurus. It was discovered in 1826 by James Dunlop. There is a debate regarding the galaxy's fundamental properties such as its Hubble type and distance. It is the fifth brightest galaxy in the sky and has unusual dust lanes.
