Each year we ask the education and outreach community to submit proposals to use the LCO 0.4m telescopes for educational projects, under the Global Sky Partners programme. The program is open to anyone with an idea for an educational project using LCO (except for under- and postgraduate research projects in the developed world). Our aim with this program is to provide resources to inspire and encourage audiences who would never normally have this type of opportunity. We allocate 1300 hours annually to this, our flagship educational program.
This year we have 21 returning partners and 7 new projects, these are:
- 100 Global High School Teams
- Beyond The Stars
- ExoClock
- Middle Cosmos
- Moon Over Us
- Sri Lanka Astronomical Research Initiative (SLARI)
- Training Novae Hunters
These new partners will be serving highly varied programs in Chile, Canada, Sri Lanka, Middle East, and to global audiences. Their projects range from beginners astronomy sessions to undergraduate research projects in the developing world; citizen science projects to cultural exchanges.
